Symbolism

In ancient mythology the Bay is a sacred tree which symbolises courage and strength. It also protects the dwelling by which it grows.

Description
Glossy, evergreen leaves adorn this Bay tree all year round. In spring pale yellow flowers blossom which are loved by our bees and butterflies. The aromatic leaves of the Bay tree have been treasured for centuries as they add a delicious flavour to soups and stews. The dense foliage is also wonderful for our garden birds to safely make their nests. The Bay tree will happily thrive in any garden, balcony or cool conservatory and can be clipped into a formal shape using topiary.

An exclusively designed card with your personal message, the story of the Bay tree's ancient symbolism and a full care guide is also enclosed with your gift.

Once your order has been placed, the most beautiful Bay tree will be freshly selected by our devoted gardeners, before being carefully wrapped in organza and placed in a luxury parcel.

Tree Care

Your Bay tree will arrive growing in its own organic pot filled with top-notch compost. No green fingers are required, just natural daylight and water to ensure your tree continues to grow. We have added special nutrients to your tree’s compost to create the perfect balance of nourishment. This organic goodness will release into the soil for several months to ensure your tree continues to flourish.

In a few weeks, plant your tree, still in its organic pot so the roots are not disturbed, in a large outdoor flower pot (one with holes so excess water can drain away) or plant in a sunny spot in the garden.

Height

This Bay tree is 40-50cm high and growing in a 15cm pot. It will enjoy being pruned in early spring and may reach a height of 2 metres in 10 years, if allowed to grow naturally.
